WP6: System Integration and Verification
Description The objective of the work package is to provide the final ARTreat products integrated and tested.
There are four main tasks in this work package with several corresponding sub-tasks. Task 6.1: Cardiologist Support Interface building Main user interface, where cardiologist will conduct all processes ARTreat project offer. Interface will be built with respect to cardiologist day-to-day work to be powerful assistant in different cases. - Subtask 6.1.1 User requirements for cardiologist interface
- Subtask 6.1.2 Development of cardiologist interface
- Subtask 6.1.3 Integration of system components
Task 6.2: Hands-on training environment development An important application is the hands-on training application on coronary stenting procedure. This application demands the system’s adaptation to the needs of a trainee in order to provide him with extra information on the performed actions and errors.
- Subtask 6.2.1 Hands-on training device hardware solution
- Subtask 6.2.2 Hands-on training environment development
Task 6.3: Training Service support services development The final training system interfaces and services will be developed and tested for its acceptability by the users.
- Subtask 6.3.1 Development of user interfaces
- Subtask 6.3.2 Development of training services
- Subtask 6.3.3 Integration of training components
Task 6.4: Final ARTreat products deployment and functional testing Finally all system products developed previously will be integrated into the final ARTreat system and extensive technical test will verify the system’s correct functionality in all provided applications. System will be deployed for validation and user operating manual will be created.
- Subtask 6.4.1 Platform integration
- Subtask 6.4.2 System functional verification
- Subtask 6.4.3 System deployment
- Subtask 6.4.4 System interoperability

| Progress The work progress of WP6 in the second year of the project is summarised in the following paragraphs. The user requirements analysis and design has advanced following the iterative RUP approach resulting in updated Cardiologist Interface application mock-up and finalised user requirements. System architecture has been developed according to modules requirements and integration approach has been established resulting in internal Integration plan document and methodology. Iteratively, modules were integrated following set requirements into final integrated Cardiologist interface according to specified mock-up interfaces. For hands-on training application, a haptic hardware device prototype has been designed and developed. Following “prototype 0”, an updated “prototype 1” has been developed. In addition, visualization and haptic rendering algorithms were implemented according to end-user requirements confirmed by medical partners during analysis phase. Training application has been designed and initial prototype and core services were implemented. Integration approach with other modules has been analysed. Interoperability and deployment phases have been initialised. Photographs and videos of the haptic prototype can be found here. To be updated soon...
